'Hip hop presented itself to me in bows and ribbons as the most logical form of escapism.'
Transmitting frequencies of love and unity to the hip hop universe from Chi-town to L.A. to Osaka, Hi-Fidel was born and raised in Hyde Park Chicago. He began his career flipping freestyles on mix tapes and rocking crowds on the Southern Illinois University campus. His debut on wax was the epic love-lost-type track 'Madeira.' Fidel doesn't waste his breath criticizing the rap game, but uses hip hop as a carrier for his poetry to reach around the globe. For evidence, check the album, 'Traveling between St. Louis and Chicago.' His advice to you:
'For these troubled times, double the amount of positivity/and shock the world with that inner electricity.'
Hi-Fidel Isabellan Future (prod. DJ Crucial) b/w Gordo 3003 (prod. Kenautis Smith) F5 Records
Back with heat for the streets, Hi-Fidel collabs, ones again, with his partner in crime, F5 founder, DJ Crucial. This 45’ is first single from Hi-Fidel since the days of “Traveling b/w St. Louis and Chicago (2001).” With a new sound and a new atmosphere to breath in, Hi-Fidel is well on the way of achieving his intergalactic mission: “live free and get rich.” Side A “Isabellan Future”, produced by DJ Crucial is worth the anticipation sought by true fans. An evolution of hotness, his rhyme skills never diminish, this line from the lead single makes it apparent.
“Mase in ya face not a compact disk/ resistance is futile you can never combat this.”
Side B, “Gordo” (3003) produced by Chicago’s Kenautis Smith, is more space traveling, transcending time and space on an air lifting beat. The wait is nearly over… 45” coming soon @ F5records.com

Hi Fidel once again travels back from the future to bless us with some other-wordly rhymes with beats by our main Mr. Crucial.Check out what okayplayer has to say
'That emcee is a Chicago-born cat named Hi Fidel who shares many of 'Geti's eccentricities, including his gift for off-kilter song concepts, rhyming as (or about) strange characters, and dipping in and out of different voices and rhyme styles from song to song. All these qualities, and many more, are on display on his newest LP The Company of Wolves. At times Fidel comes off startlingly similar to 'Geti (who drops a guest-verse on the track 'Patty Farmington'), spitting his raps in a slurry slow-flow and worshiping at the 'weirdo alter' ruled by Rap deities with names like Doom, Del, and Keith. But his changeable cadence, (which lends itself to comparisons with the likes of various second-tier Wu-Tang-ers, Mos Def, and C-Rayz Walz, amongst others) and his tendency to spit braggadocio or address more ostensibly populist subject-matter (such as street violence and the travails of the working man) in his less abstract moments help establish him as his own man and a shining example of uniqueness in an industry where doing what everybody else is doing is often the only way to make a buck.' |

Madeira (n. muh-DEER-ah) 1. Island in the Atlantic near the northern coast of Africa; colonized by the Portuguese in the 15th Century; birthplace of sugar plantations. 2. Type of wine exported from the island. 3. The girl who ripped out Hi-Fidel's heart.
Here F5 presents the sequel to the single that set it off back in '98, 'Madeira II'. This A-Side is another showcase of Fidel's gift of storytelling, continuing the saga of one girl's witchy ways.
On the flip side, 'Fiery' is a hot unreleased track with some unrelenting drum hits from DJ Crucial. |
